Editorial Board Contributor Policy
The MWC family of online publications is dedicated to a vigorous discussion of the issues of the day, whether political, educational, social, cultural, artistic or civic. We seek to enlighten our readers and to stimulate their minds. For this reason, we encourage writers of all stripes to contribute to our websites. However, we demand that all submissions be truthful and civil, and that they be free of personal attacks and hate speech. Our editorial voice is evolving, and we want that voice to be inclusive of various opinions and viewpoints, but we will not tolerate the use of our website to publicize profane, hateful or factually inaccurate submissions. In fulfillment of these generalized goals, we have developed the following author guidelines:
Hate Speech Will Not Be Tolerated. Hate Speech is bigoted attacking or disparaging of a social or ethnic group, or a member of such a group. It is hostility and aversion usually deriving from ignorance, fear, anger, or a sense of injury. It involves extreme dislike or antipathy. Hate speech is intended to degrade, intimidate, or incite violence, discrimination, or prejudicial action against people based on:
race,
ethnicity,
national origin,
religion,
sexual orientation,
gender, or
disability.
Hate speech includes degrading or otherwise prejudicial action or statements against others for the exercise of their constitutional right of association, including such things as union membership, party affiliation, or participation in strikes, boycotts, or demonstrations. Hate speech can be either written or oral communication. Submissions that include hate speech or intend to encourage discrimination against people based upon any of the classifications above will not be published. Individuals who repeatedly submit articles that include hate speech will have their accounts closed. Individuals who send email that includes hate speech will be permanently moved to a "Blocked Senders" list. If you believe a particular article on the site includes hate speech, please inform the editors using our Reader Feedback page and please identify the author, article, and paragraph. Submission of work for publication constitutes that you have read and agree to abide by our Author Agreement.
If you disagree with our policy prohibiting hate speech or if you disagree with any of the classifications identified above, then do not submit work to us. If you think your submission may reasonably be considered hate speech by anyone who may read your article, including people who might be "too sensitive," then do not submit that work either because we are simply not interested.
Vitriol Will Not Be Tolerated. Vitriol is language of extreme bitterness and malignancy of temper. It includes rancor (deep-seated ill-will) and/or spiteful, poisonous, or noxious language. Individuals who repeatedly submit articles that include vitriol will have their accounts closed. Individuals who send email that includes vitriol will be permanently moved to a "Blocked Senders" list. If you believe a particular article on the site includes vitriol, please inform the editors using our Reader Feedback page and please identify the author, article, and paragraph.

Political Opinion Writers. Our policy prohibits caustic attacks on elected leaders, government officials, politicians, and non-elected (appointed) policymakers. We expect your submissions to be truthful, civil, and well-mannered, following the established traditions of polite society and good taste. If you are not able to write about important issues of the day and, instead, repeatedly make personal or insulting attacks on anyone, your account will be closed. And if you are unable to provide a source or reference for a questionable statement, your submission will not be published and/or deleted. Submission of work for publication constitutes that you have read and agree to abide by our Author Agreement.
Additional Information. This is a "G-Rated" site. Accordingly, no adult or foul language will be tolerated. We do not publish articles that include curse words or denigrate our advertisers, affiliates, or contributors. You may submit opinion or feature articles that disagree with our contributors; however, you may not denigrate them. All articles must be full-length feature articles with a minimum of 300 words. Please visit our Author Information page do learn the distinction between articles and blogs. Please do not submit blogs to your article account. Instead, request a blog account for blog submissions.
Conclusion. If you disagree with our policy prohibiting hate speech, vitriol, and caustic attacks on others, or if you disagree with any of the classifications identified above, or if you disagree with any of the demands made in this policy statement, then do not submit work to us. If you think your submission may reasonably be considered hate speech, vitriol, caustic, or prejudicial by anyone who may read your article, including people who might be "too sensitive," then do not submit that work either because we are simply not interested. If you believe a particular article on the site violates our Editorial Board Contributor Policy, please inform the editors using our Contact form and please identify the author, article, and paragraph.
