In Iran, supporters of opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi have called for another protest in Tehran today in defiance of the government ban. At least nineteen demonstrators have been killed in the ten days since the election of June 12th. The government continues to detain journalists and activists and has set up a special court for demonstrators.
Mehdi Karroubi, the candidate who finished fourth in Iran's presidential poll, has called off a planned ceremony to mourn the deaths of at least 19 people killed in protests over the disputed re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The US economy shrank slightly less than previously thought in the first three months of the year, although overall economic activity remains weak, US figures have shown.
